Car plows into som tam restaurant injuring 5

Five people were hospitalized yesterday after a Volvo crashed into an Isaan restaurant at a gas station in the capital’s Huai Khwang district.

Wannanee Warojnanuklak, 68, had filled her Volvo’s tank at an Esso gas station off Petchutai Road, and as she drove off lost control of the vehicle and drove straight into the restaurant’s wall 100 meters away.

Wannanee said she stepped on the brake many times, but the car did not stop.

The wall collapsed onto a table, where five expressway authority workers were eating. They were taken to Rama IX hospital for treatment.

Police will charge Wannannee with reckless driving, Nation TV reported.
