Update: Predictably, the other metro provinces are getting on the same page. The two Samuts – Prakan and Sakhon – have both banned sales. Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi, to the north and northwest respectively, remain holdouts, for now.

Before the imminent ban hammer on alcohol sales prompts a panic run on every shop in town, everyone from cocktail connoisseurs to straight-up alcoholics can consider a short run to the border to buy their alcohol.
While Bangkok has banned its sale, it’s still business as usual in four of the other five metropolitan provinces.
Bangkok bans sale of booze for 11 days
As of Thursday afternoon, alcohol sales had not been banned in the surrounding provinces of Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon.
So there’s that.
City Hall ordered all alcohol sales banned for 11 days just before the beginning of the Songkran holiday period.
Currently, 10 provinces nationwide have imposed bans of alcohol sales: Sakon Nakhon (until April 16), Chiang Mai (until April 20), Rayong (until April 15), Buriram (until April 30), Mukdahan (until April 30), Suphan Buri (until April 30), Nakhon Pathom (until April 30), Lamphun (until April 30), Chonburi (from 6am – 6pm) and Surin (until April 30).
