Canadian woman dies, another injured when rented pink Jeep rolls into ditch

The vacation of two Canadian women ended tragically last week when the pink Jeep they rented rolled off a road and into a ditch in an accident related to the recent unseasonal heavy rains.

The driver Ali Lambert, 22, died just after the accident. The passenger, Nezabravka “Nezi” Borislavova, is in the hospital with injuries. Her friends and family are trying to raise money to pay her medical bills and send her back to Canada as she did not have medical insurance.

Doug Lambert, Ali’s father, said that the Jeep his daughter was driving struggled in the heavy rain. The women were road-tripping from Bangkok to Phuket.

“The Jeep was completely destroyed. Ali was non-responsive when she was taken to the hospital.” said Doug. He also said that Borislavova suffered a few broken bones but should recover and was a close friend of his daughter’s.

Doug said that his daughter had been part way through a six-month tour of Asia and Europe and she had not yet booked her ticket home. He has been told that it might take time to get his daughter’s body back to Canada for burial, reported CBC News.

The devastated dad went on to say that his family is in shock from the news about Ali.

“She was an artist and adventurer at heart,” he said. “She was a real alternative kid. She chose a different path for herself. We’re just very glad we got to know her for 22 years.”

Both families are working with the Canadian consulate to answer questions and gather additional information.
