On Tuesday, Bangkok Tourist Police arrested a cabbie for overcharging Vietnamese tourists for entry to Wat Pho.
The cabbie, 38-year-old Chontisak Pooyiamjit, stands accused of charging a Vietnamese family THB500 for tickets to visit the temple. Normally, the price of entry is THB100.
Once inside the temple, the tourists were informed of this price discrepancy and turned Chontisak in to the Tourist Police.
The Bangkok Post reports that although Chontisak denied any wrongdoing, he was nonetheless shouldered with charges of attempted fraud and not displaying a “taxi meter” sign on his vehicle.
