Busy start for 1st Bangkok Queer Theatre Festival

As the second set of dates for its first production gets underway tonight, Bangkok’s first Queer Theatre Festival will continue through the end of the year with five more productions.

The travails of four queens trying to save their night club continue this weekend and the next in “The 4 Sisters+1,” but tickets are sold out for all performances except Monday and Oct. 11.

Next the 18 Monkeys Dance Theatre will present two performances. “My Betrayal is Beautiful” at 8pm and 9:30pm on on Oct. 15 and “Le Funambule” at 8:30pm on Oct. 18 and 19.

“Taro: The Little Poodle,” a solo performance by artist Sangsan Santimaneerat opens at 8pm on Oct. 24 and continues daily until Nov. 9, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Starting Nov. 14, Director Panuwat Inthawat’s production of “Drunk” runs through Nov. 30 with 8pm performances except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Bringing the festival to a close will be Wannasak “Kuck” Sirilar, a veteran and pioneer of queer theater, who will stage his one-man show “I Shall Pass” Dec. 2 through Dec. 14 every night at 8pm except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Reservations can be made at 088-018-5966.
