Bus No. 8 driver fined and suspended for ramming into BTS pillar

The driver of a public bus was gently punished today for an accident in which two passengers were injured and three cars wrecked after he drove into a concrete pillar.

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority said bus No. 9 driver Jakkaphol Boonying, 27, was fined THB3,000 and suspended for one month after he sped head-on into a concrete support column at BTS Ari on Tuesday.

Jakkaphol claimed he had to avoid the pick-up truck which cut in front of him.

The driver was disciplined and warned that if he was caught with another reckless driving, the punishment would be worse, MThai reported.
