Bus driver gently punished for running red light (VIDEO)

Footage of a bus nearly flattening a group of people after carelessly running a red light in western Bangkok prompted the bus company to gently punish the driver yesterday.

The viral video captured Sunday from a motorist’s helmet cam shows Bus No. 33 running the red light at the Carai intersection in Nonthaburi. Difficult for the driver to argue it was poor judgment when the light had been red for six seconds already. He nearly plows through the little scooters crossing from the other side.

The Kitti Soonthorn Co., who operates the bus, announced yesterday it has fined the driver THB1,000 and suspended him for three days. The driver was not identified.

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority has reached out to the company to further investigate, according to Daily News.
