British tourists murdered, stripped on Koh Tao beach

Two young tourists were found viciously killed on Sairee beach of Koh Tao this morning.

Both tourists were British nationals, one male and one female, in their mid-20s. The cause of death was attributed to blunt force trauma, possibly by a shovel, and their bodies were found stripped naked about 20 meters apart.

According to the investigation, the tourists both arrived separately at Koh Tao on Aug. 27 with friends and started a relationship after meeting on the island. After a party last night, they separated from the crowd to take a walk along the beach.

Their bodies were discovered 100 meters from the party spot. Police assume the murderers are foreign workers in the area who killed them to rob them, JS100 reported.

Update: An earlier version of this story included the victim’s names as reported elsewhere. They have been withheld out of sensitivity to the families.
