A 33-year-old British man died today in an off-road motorbike crash on Chao Fah Tawan Ok Road in Phuket’s Muang district.
Police were called to the site of the accident shortly after 12AM this morning. They found Paul Lowda lying on the road in a pool of blood by a R1 1,000 cc Yamaha super bike. His neck and both his arms were broken, and his head had sustained serious injuries as a result of not wearing a helmet.
An initial police investigation revealed that Lowda’s recklessness was the main cause of his death. Police, who had set up checkpoints in a one-kilometer ring surrounding the accident, stated that Lowda had raced his rented bike on the road several times prior to his death.
According to Dailynews, Lowda’s body will be handed over to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy.
