A young Englishman accidentally fell from a moving train on Friday as it was going to Surat Thani from Bangkok. He is now recovering after being found by rescue workers and getting treatment at a Chumphon provincial hospital.
Clark Daniel Timothy, 21, who was vacationing in Thailand, apparently was smoking a cigarette between two carriages when he fell from the train. He lost consciousness and was found by passers-by about 500 meters from Thung Kha station in downtown Chumphon. Rescue workers rushed to the scene and took him to the hospital
The man was in a coma when he got to the hospital and doctors immediately worked to remove blood from his brain, reported Thai PBS.
The man’s friend, fellow Brit Ross Wilkirk, told officers that they were en route to Koh Tao and Koh Phangan on March 31. The men were riding on a third-class train. At 3am on April 1, Timothy told his friend he would go to smoke. Wilkirk fell asleep and did not realize that his friend never returned. When he awoke at 5am, he searched the train for his friend.
He knew something must be wrong so he alerted railway police about his friend’s disappearance who called him as soon as they found Timothy. The man’s mother was also alerted and was coming to Thailand to care for her son.
