The owner of a Thai restaurant in Gloucester, a town northwest of London, said a local couple ate all her food, refused to pay their bill, and told her to go back to her country.

Kittima Manmaunjun, owner of Bangkok Canteen restaurant, said that a British man and woman, appearing to be in their 30s, ate at her restaurant on Sunday night, where they made a fuss because their fish cakes were too chewy. However, they proceeded to eat everything on their plates, including the decorative flowers.

“The woman insulted me and said I should go back to where I came from and learn English laws,” Kittima told Gloucestershire Live.

Angered by the fish cakes, a Thai dish that’s supposed to be chewy, the couple also went above and beyond and told two waitresses to learn English laws, despite the girls being British.

“She was being really rude. She insulted my two waitresses and said, ‘Even on minimum wage you have to know English laws’ even though they’re both British girls.”

“It was a shock. Our staff nearly cried. They had never seen anything like it before.”

After the appetizer, Kittima suggested that the couple should not have their main course, but the couple insisted on the restaurant serving them with a jumbo Tom Yum soup and Massaman curry, which they finished all of.

But when the GBP68.50 (THB2,990) bill came, the woman went up to Kittima and told her she would only pay GBP60 because they were not satisfied with the quality, despite photographs suggesting that they probably licked their bowls.

But when Kittima called the police, the couple had fled without paying at all.

“The woman said she was a consumer so she could do whatever she wanted,” Kittima said.

Police said they would collect and analyze CCTV footage of the incident.
