Police yesterday arrested a 25-year-old British man in connection with the death of a Thai bar girl, who plunged from a condominium in Pattaya in the early hours of Saturday.
Reece Blain Vella, from Birmingham, has been charged for recklessness causing death. Police identified him as the last person who spent time with Wannipa Chanhuathon, 26, before she was discovered naked, lying in a pool of blood at the compound of Cosy Beach View Condominium, where he had rented a room on the fifth floor.
Wannipa, from northeastern Sakon Nakhon province, was reportedly still alive when the building’s security guard discovered her. Although rescue workers performed CPR on her, the woman did not survive.
Pol. Col. Apichai Krobpetch, superintendent of Muang Pattaya police, said Vella told them that he was having sex with Wannipa on the condominium’s balcony and the woman’s fall was an accident, reported Thai PBS.
Vella then ran and rented a room at Eastiny Resort and Spa, located about five kilometers from the scene. He was arrested at an entertainment venue not far from the resort, according to News Around Thailand.
Recklessness causing death carries a jail term of up to 10 years and or a fine of THB200,000 (about US$6,200).
