A young British tourist fell 80 meters down Na Muang Waterfall in Koh Samui while his friends watched in horror on Saturday.

Luke Scott, 20, slipped and fell headfirst down the multi-level falls, ending the journey with a skull fracture as well as several broken bones, including: ankle, jaw, eye socket, cheekbone, and many ribs. Miraculously, he survived and was flown to a Bangkok hospital, where a friend, Harvey Hughes, is staying with him before he can be taken home to the UK to fully recover, reported ITV.

He’s had two operations already as well as a brain scan that showed no damage.

His mother, Karen, said, “It’s such a worry with him being so far away. He must have landed on his face, and it’s a miracle he survived, but he’s made of tough stuff.”

He has spoken to his family since the accident. He told his mom, “I thought I was going to die.”

It’s far from the first accident at the beautiful but dangerous falls. Two years ago, another Brit backpacker died after falling in the same spot.
