A Brazilian woman, who hailed a taxi from Don Mueang Airport to the Thong Lor area yesterday, was allegedly raped by her driver and abandoned in the middle of a remote field in Suphan Buri, a province an hour and a half drive away from Bangkok.

The 22-year-old tourist, whose name was withheld, said that that she took a morning flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and landed at Don Mueang at 1:30pm on Tuesday. After that, she took a taxi to see a friend in the Thong Lor area, but instead the driver drove out of town to a field where he tried to rape her but she fought him off. He attacked her again and allegedly did manage to rape her before abandoning her and fleeing the scene in his car.

The victim was rescued by locals in the area of Toong Kok subdistrict. She was brought to the hospital where police questioned her.

Suphanburi police said they will make a facial sketch of the suspect and track him down from the city’s surveillance cameras, Thairath reported.
