To console the newbie producer who flipped out when his film “Sri Thanonchai 555+” bombed last week, here are the lowest-grossing releases from recent years, according to The National Federation of Thai Film Associations as compiled by Matichon.
Muay Jin Din Kong Lok (Chinese-looking Daughter Dances ‘til the World Ends) 2014 – THB29,000
Well-known as the least profitable film ever made, “Chinese-looking Daughter” Dances ‘til the World Ends” is the story of a daydreaming, good-looking girl who loves K-Pop dancing. Awkward girl goes on to befriend flirty punk guy and ghost, wackiness ensues. A formula like that couldn’t fail. Except it did, horribly.

Loh Lak Sai (Tiger and Wolf) 2013 – THB50,000
A classic fantasy love triangle between a good-looking girl, werewolf and weretiger.
The public just wasn’t ready to embrace polyamorous love intercut with 2D animations.

Dek Sao (Bloom) 2012 – THB56,000
Five girls living by a canal have been best friends since kindergarten. They decide to compete in a boat race and aim to reach the final round. There are tensions and shaky friendships the girls have to overcome. But nothing interesting ever happens.

Kao Krian (Asshole Shamans vs. Cool Ghosts) 2012 – THB57,000
A businessman wants to renovate an abandoned hotel, only problem is – you guessed it – the place is totally haunted. To deal with the wandering souls, three famous shamans are invited for an exorcism, only, everything goes wrong. Despite every other traditional ghost-comedy movie being solid gold, it seems “Shamans & Ghosts” was filled with failure.

Saman-Chan (Color’s Love) (2010) – THB60,000
On Valentine’s Day, married couple Saman and Chan visit the local district office to get divorced. As the curious officer asks about their story, the couple rediscover their forgotten love. Seriously, would you want to see this? Even more so, take a Romance Day-date to see old, unhappy failures discuss their marital strife with a civil servant?

Ruk Fung Keaw (Love in the Fang) 2014 – THB63,000
Two vampires fight over a girl and, ridiculously, they cause her to die. Logically, the two immortal blood drinkers sit around for 500 years waiting for the girl to reborn again. Fortunately for all the aborted sequel plans, “Thwailight” tanked.
