Booze and Bikinis: Hotel owners charged for alcohol advertising in Facebook party video

A new floating hotel in Kanchanaburi decided to celebrate their grand opening with a six-hour bikini party that they transmitted over Facebook Live. The owners are now facing charges since alcohol was featured in the video and, in Thailand, alcohol advertising on the social media site is illegal.

Yesterday, Kanchanaburi Police charged the owners for illegal alcohol advertising, reported Thai PBS.

The bikini video for the new raft house floating hotel, located near Srinagarind Dam, was called obscene by viewers.

For the police, however, the bikini-clad crew, led by social media star and model Jessi Vard, wasn’t the issue. They were more concerned with the drinks in their hands.

Raft house owner Sakchai Udon, 49, and his daughter Nutchanat, 23, were charged with illegal advertising of alcohol. The charge is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine as high as THB500,000.
