Booze ban to kick off prior to Bangkok election

No buying booze for 24 hours this weekend, folks.

Prior to Sunday’s Bangkok gubernatorial election, alcohol sales won’t be allowed from 6pm Saturday until 6pm Sunday. The ban will be effective across all of Bangkok.

The ban is one of the regulations established by the election commission, which believes it’s necessary for people to show up at the polls sober.

Those who violate the law will face up to six months in prison, a THB10,000 fine, or both.
