Bonfire of the Amphetamines: 22 billion baht in drugs to be torched

Hard drugs worth THB22 billion will be ceremonially incinerated Friday to recognize the United Nation’s International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Seized from 5,508 cases this year, the 66 million yaba tablets and 798 kilograms of crystal meth — sprinkled with a little ecstasy, cocaine and opium — will be burned in a 850C kiln at a government health office in Ayutthaya.

The drugs weigh seven tons, INN reported.
