The body of Kornkamol “Amm” Leenawarat arrived in Bangkok late last night, two weeks after Seattle police ruled both her and her Thai roommate’s death as a murder-suicide.
Her family, including her uncle Kritsada, who is the mayor of Pathumthani’s Thanyaburi Municipality, retrieved her body from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 10pm last night and moved her to Na Bun Temple for the funeral service.
Seattle police ruled that the 25-year-old died from multiple stab wounds inflicted by her roommate, 32-year-old Thiti-on Chotechuangsab, who then committed suicide by stabbing herself in the chest.
Their bodies were found on Sept. 4, but police believe the two women had died four days prior to that.

Both Thais were studying for their masters of law at the University of Washington. Kornkamol only had seven months left of studies before she would graduate.

There’s very little information about Thiti-on in the local press, as rumors say that her family would like to keep their privacy.
Kornkamol’s father Papawin told reporters last night that he met Thiti-on when she came to see his daughter at home but, since the incident, Thiti-on’s family has not reached out to him at all, Khaosod reported.
In deep mourning, Papawin said that he didn’t expect the roommate’s family could be so “cold-hearted” as to not contact him so they could give each other support during this difficult time.
The family will hold a funeral for Kornkamol for seven nights, which is a common Buddhist tradition, and her cremation will be held next Thursday.
