BMA to try and clear Bangkok’s footpaths

In an attempt to free up space on the overcrowded footpaths, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) last week removed 3,118 unlicensed ad banners installed near bus stops and on footpaths.

The city council also reached an agreement on Monday to remove unlicensed banners, phone booths and rearrange motorcycle taxi stations.

Some of the capital’s 200,000 motorcycle taxis tend to use footpaths as parking stations even though this is illegal.

Legal action will be taken against those who damage public properties such as trees and footpaths, reported the Nation.
