Big C squashes rumors of packing rotten rice

Sandee Rice and Big C Supercenter assured Thai customers earlier this week of the quality of their packed rice. The two companies insisted that their products are free from any sort of substance that may be hazardous to their consumers’ health.

Burin Tanathavornlap, the managing director of Sandee Rice Co, and Big C Supercentre corporate relations director Kudatarn Nakviroj both denied allegations circulating in social media regarding rotten rice at some hypermarkets in Thailand.

Both spokespersons stated that their rice packaging meets international standards and faces quality checks by globally accredited SGS lab analysis.

Rumors going around social media state that rotten rice from the government’s rice pledging program has been packed in plastic bags and is being sold in local markets and hypermarkets.
