Bhutan-style National Happiness Center established in Thailand

Thailand is working with Bhutan, widely recognized as the happiest country in the world, to establish the Gross National Happiness Center in Thailand — the first center of its kind outside of Bhutan.

Gross National Happiness is a measurement of the collective happiness of a country and was originally used in Bhutan to measure how successfully they were building a happy society based on Buddhist values rather than materialism and creating gross domestic product.

The Thai center will also highlight the Sufficiency Economy philosophy, reported the Thai News Bureau.

The center will teach and promote concepts like sufficiency and moderation, much like what is laid out in the Sufficiency Economy philosophy.

Established in 2013, the Gross National Happiness Center in Bhutan promotes equal development, sustainable social and economic development, environmental conservation, cultural promotion and good governance for the people of Bhutan.
