Yesterday, children and women protection police arrested 50 beggars and vagrants across Bangkok. The police began their crackdown in an effort to stop human trafficking within the capital, and arrested the vagrants under the suspicion that they had been trafficked into Thailand illegally.
During the crackdown, cops arrested 35 Thais and 15 Cambodians in many business areas such as Siam Square, MBK, Soi Nana, Victory Monument, Pratunam, Silom, Sanam Luang, Khaosan Road and Pinklao.
All the Cambodian nationals will be deported back to their home country. For Thai citizens, police will conduct background checks on their identities to ensure that they are not involved in human trafficking, Dailynews reported.
