Metropolitan Police chief Pol Maj Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrachang will compete in a friendly match against Thailand’s first badminton world champion Ratchanok Intanon.

The match is set to start at 3pm tomorrow. Kamronwit plans to present the 18-year-old player with a THB500,000 scholarship reward out of his own pocket.

Following her victory at the badminton world championships in Guangzhou Sunday, Ratchanok has become a Thai sports hero. According to INN, Police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew has appointed her as a non-commissioned officer, and promises to promote her to a commissioned officer position as soon as she receives her bachelor’s degree.
