A shabu-shabu meat-eating contest will soon take place nationwide in Thailand, with the Bangkok round set for September 1 at Central Plaza Lat Phrao.
The second annual Shabu Lympics, organized by shabu-shabu and sushi buffet restaurant chain Shabushi, offers a grand prize of THB100,000 for winners in each of the three categories – singles, doubles and teams of four. Winners will also receive 52 free vouchers at Shabushi, worth a total of THB17,108. The first runner-ups get THB50,000 and the second runner-ups THB30,000.
Anyone can compete in the speed eating competition as long as they pay the regular buffet price. After passing the qualifying rounds, contestants will enter the finals on September 8.
The winner of last year’s contest devoured a record159 plates of sliced meat in 75 minutes. If you think you can top that, register at 085-409-1891.
