JS100, a radio channel that reports on traffic and road accidents in Bangkok around the clock, this week released the names of five roads they deemed to have “the worst traffic of 2018.”

We can’t begin to imagine monitoring the traffic in a city like Bangkok all day long, so when the staff of JS100 speaks on the matter, we’re inclined to believe it’s legit.

The radio channel said their list is based on data they’ve collected throughout the year, so without further adieu, here are the roads with the worst traffic in the City of Angels:

Lat Phrao

To no one’s surprise, the first street to make the list is Lat Phrao, a major road that cuts through a massive residential area.

Lat Phrao’s traffic has gotten worse this year due to the construction of the Yellow Line train, which forced authorities to shut down one lane on each side of the street, making a bad situation that much worse.

Just how bad is Lat Phrao? We’ll point out the fun fact that when Thai news publication The Matter posted a silly video of a Lat Phrao resident complaining about traffic last year, it generated nearly 250,000 views. That’s how relatable it is.

Ramkhamhaeng

To be fair to poor Ramkhamhaeng, it’s connected to Lat Phrao, which likely explains its dubious home on the list.

Also cutting through a major residential area, Ramkhamhaeng also suffered the same train-connected fate as Lat Phrao, only with construction of the Orange Line rather than Yellow taking place on the street.

Srinagarindra

There’s not much to add for Srinagarindra, except that it also lost up to two lanes of road at various points due to … you guessed it, train construction. In addition to the construction of the Yellow Line train, JS100 noted that the street’s Si Nuch intersection takes a long time to get through.

Ramintra – Chaengwattana

At this point you can probably expect what we’re going to say — yep, this road also lost anywhere from one to two lanes due to the construction of the Pink Line train.

Tiwanon

Rounding out the list is Tiwanon, which may not be as familiar to some readers as it’s located further out in the capital’s outskirts. The traffic on Tiwanon, however, is awful. In fact it’s bad enough to also negatively affect other nearby roads such as Ngamwongwan and Rattanathibet. JS100 recommends you avoid the route at all cost.

So will all this new train construction have the hoped-for effect of reducing our maddening traffic? We’ll find out when the new lines go live in 2029.
