A university in Bangkok’s old quarter has set up a vending machine to dispense free condoms to students and faculty.

Thammasat University’s Tha Prachan campus unveiled its automatic condom dispenser next to a drink vending machine on the first floor of the Student Affairs building to give out free rubbers to students, staff, or anybody with a gold health card.

The machine is located on the first floor of the Student Affairs building.

Despite its cultural conservatism, Thailand has long been hailed for promoting safe sex through the provision of condoms. The government frequently gives out condoms, including a recent initiative to distribute 95 million prophylactics at hospitals and pharmacies nationwide.

Under that program, anyone possessing universal health care gold cards is eligible to receive 10 condoms a week for one year.
