After three years of renovation, Bangkok today has a much, much larger downtown convention center.

Now five times larger, the Queen Sirikit Convention Center spans 280,000sqm, with 78,500sqm of show space comprising two massive exhibition halls, two conference halls, and 50 meeting rooms.

The venue’s schedule is already packed with conferences and events touching upon hot-button topics such as climate change and the environment at ASEAN’s largest sustainability expo, dubbed Sustainability Expo. It will run Sept. 26 through Oct. 2. Following that, bibliophiles can rejoice at the national book fair’s return to its longtime home Oct. 12-23.

The convention center closed for renovation in 2019. Its revamp didn’t come cheap – the public price tag was THB15 billion (US$451 million). The venue is located at the intersection of Ratchadapisek and Rama IV roads and has rail service via MRT Queen Sirikit Convention Center.
