Commuters crossing the river to and from Bangkok’s old quarter via the Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge will have to find another way across in two weeks when the bridge closes overnight.
The busy bridge will close at 11pm on Aug. 24 and reopen at 5am the next day for a restoration study to be conducted, according to the Rural Roads Department. The bridge turns 46 in September.
Motorists should take the Rama VIII Bridge to the north as an alternate route.
