After one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist destinations reopened this past weekend, other markets in the metropolitan area are itching to follow suit.
Over a dozen Bangkok flea markets have announced they will resume operations as newly confirmed COVID-19 infections remained in the single digits today. They include the famous Ratchada Train Night Market, Taling Chan Floating Market, Saphan Phut Night Market and more.
The reopenings come with rules shoppers and vendors must strictly follow including wearing a face mask and practicing social-distancing. There did not seem to be large crowds or social-distancing drama at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which opened this past weekend. This went well enough that Bangkok Gov. Aswin Kwanmuang said it could remain open one more hour, from 5am to 7pm.
