Bangkok to get a break from heat in time for holidays

More rain may follow last night’s drizzle in the coming days as temperatures slide slightly to highs of about 31C for the next week.

Following a heat wave that peaked Wednesday at 38C, temperatures will fall tomorrow and reach a less-scorching high of 29C come Monday’s holiday before hovering around 31C for the rest of the week. Evenings will remain warm, with lows ranging from 24C to 26C.

Thunderstorms are likely across metropolitan Bangkok through Monday, with the Meteorological Department warning this morning to expect rain along with gusty winds and even hail in the capital, as well as the north and northeastern regions.

In case you were planning to climb a large tree or billboard, the department suggested that could be a bad idea due to lightning.
