If you go by the logic that 3 times makes a trend, then 2013 is truly Bangkok’s banner year for tourism.
Earlier this month the Thai capital was voted the best city on the planet for the fourth year running by Travel + Leisure magazine. That announcement came on the heels of Mastercard’s proclamation that Bangkok is the most touristed city in the world. Now TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, has named the The City of Angels the top destination in Asia.
Award winners were determined on the popularity of destinations, taking into account travellers’ favourites and most highly rated places. Winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account ratings for hotels, attractions and restaurants in destinations worldwide, as well as destinations pinned as “Favorite” on the TripAdvisor app.
Tokyo and Beijing were ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
