Bangkok police said a 23-year-old man had confessed to having had inappropriate contact with about 300 teen boys, six of whom have accused him of sexual assault.
Chanabodin Nikulkarn was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sexual assault and abduction of children under 15 following complaints made by the guardians of the six alleged victims, Buppharam police said yesterday.
The six victims, aged 13-15, told police the suspect had taken each of them into his home. He would buy them food, alcoholic drinks, and cigarettes before he encouraged them to watch pornography with him.
Police said Chanabodin then sexually assaulted the minors by performing oral sex on them. When the victims resisted, the suspect held them hostage.
The victims reportedly attend the same all-boys school that the suspect graduated from, so they knew him through contacts at school. They would address Chanabodin with respectful nicknames like “Daddy Ja” or “Teacher Ja.”
Chanabodin confessed he had been in contact and “flirted with” at least 300 boys, but did not sexually assault all of them. He insisted he never had intercourse with the victims.
Chanabodin said he used Facebook and Line to contact the boys after school hours and sometimes took them out for a walk or food because he was lonely. After the hangout, he usually gave the boys THB20 – 30 in cash.
Chanabodin was caught on Wednesday at the parking lot of an unidentified hospital in Sathorn where he worked. Police then carried out a search of his home where they found 22 used tissues with traces of semen on them.
Police will investigate whether the DNA on the tissues match any of the alleged victims.
Chanabodin apologized to the guardians of his alleged victims and promised to never assault anyone again after serving his punishment.
Police are calling for parents and guardians who suspect their children could have been assaulted by Chanabodin to come forward, Thairath reported.
