A man was fired by a high-end hotel yesterday after he dumped a glass of beer onto a woman’s head because she refused to join his toast.
Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada Hotel said last night that it had fired the male employee, who it did not identify, after he poured the drink onto a woman who refused his clank of the glass. Just to be clear on where it stands on abusing guests, the hotel said it does not support such “inappropriate” behavior.
“The hotel does not support the employee’s inappropriate behavior both during and outside working hours,” it said in a statement, as the man was off duty at the time.
The incident caught on security camera showed a man walk toward the woman – later identified as Pareploy Saeaia – and pour the drink on her. Pareploy, a 24-year-old Muay Thai fighter, immediately went after the man and confronted him. Unconstrained by her evening attire, she pursued him relentlessly and landed several powerful kicks before one of her male friends got into a brawl with her attacker.
Pareploy and the man, whose name has been kept secret, went to the Huai Khwang Police Station and paid THB1,000 each for their roles in the melee.
Pareploy said she was dining with friends when she was approached by the man, who asked to clank a glass of beer with her, which she refused. Five minutes later, the man returned to register his unhappiness by soaking her with beer before walking away.
