Dozens of revelers bent on Special K were busted in a raid on a Bangkok pub early yesterday, one of two venues raided over the weekend.

Police stormed into the 77society pub southwest in Bang Khun Thian district at about 2am on a tip that the nightclub was operating after closing time. More than 200 patrons were in attendance, 63 of whom were found to be in possession of drugs.

About 29 grams of ketamine were reportedly found at the scene. Other drugs police said they found included 12 packets of meth and 20 tablets of MDMA. Approximately 100 patrons tested positive for drugs in pee tests.

The club’s owner, Komsan Tangcham of Nakhon Ratchasima province was arrested. He was charged with operating without a license, selling alcohol after hours as well as violating health safety measures and allowing narcotics.

It was the second Bangkok club raided in recent days following the closure of the Vampire Pub in the Pathum Wan district after it was found to be operating until 4am. More than 500 party-goers were found in the pub, 18 of whom tested positive for drugs.

Nightclubs and bars are allowed to open until midnight. Such nightlife venues just resumed operations this month after the government began easing regulations. This coming Friday, the COVID task force will discuss doing away with masks in public places as well as extending operating hours until 2am.
