A video of a Bangkok officer rescuing a cat stuck under a van made headlines in local media today as netizens praised the cop for his small-but-powerful heroic act.
The video, posted on Friday, shows officer Theerapong Kapjuntuk of Viphavadi Police, lying on the street, as he inserts his arm under a public van in an attempt to grab a small kitten that ran underneath.
Officer Theerapong told Coconuts that while his troop was setting up a checkpoint on Vibhavadi Road, they spotted the kitten in the middle of the street.
As a public van was approaching, the cops promptly stopped the vehicle to make sure it didn’t run over the kitten, but the scaredy cat ran under the van and took refuge in the space above the back wheel. For three minutes, they attempted to remove the kitten but couldn’t get to the tiny creature.
In the end, the police and van driver carefully pushed the vehicle to the roadside and Officer Theerapong successfully brought the kitten to safety.
Theerapong said the kitten was slightly injured but has already been adopted.
