A Thai passenger said he had to get behind the wheels of a taxi yesterday when his driver decided to take a nap during a red light, claiming he was “too sleepy” to go on.

Because this is apparently the world we live in now.

Santiphap Khunchanmee dubbed his Facebook post “a whole new dimension to riding in a taxi” as he shared a memorable (to say the least) encounter with a Bangkok cabbie yesterday.

Santiphap then transcribes a conversation he allegedly had with the cabbie.

“Bro, I can’t go on anymore. I’m too sleepy. Let me park and take a little nap during this red light,” said the cabbie to Santiphap.

The confused passenger asked, “Should I drive?” To which the sleepy cabbie responded, “I was hoping you’d offer.”

For real?

The worst part, however, may be the fact that Santiphap was charged the full fare of THB300 (US$9) — pretty damn pricey in Thailand — for basically driving himself.

While Santiphap’s post, which racked up 30,000 shares in just a day, is not open for the public to comment, his friends praised him for being a real stand-up guy here for offering to drive.

What’s the best part? This is not the first incident of its kind — another dude said he had the same experience and shared his own selfie with a sleeping taxi driver.

Hey, remember that campaign taxi drivers tried starting to raise ride fares, promising that service will consequently improve?

Well… it takes two to tango, buddy.
