Bangkok Book Festival: Lit fair without the sweaty, screaming chaos

Some booklovers skip Bangkok’s big fairs for their swarms of bargain-hunters more interested in posting impressive selfies with their bounty of books only meant to decorate shelves.

A new festival with a more serious heart and smaller focus will take place later this month at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

The Bangkok Book Festival will feature 20 publishers showing their stuff and sharing their experiences along with discussions and exhibitions relating to the craft of bookmaking.

National artist Chuang Moolpinit will exhibit his early book cover designs, and a number of talks will be held with the likes of Kenny Leck, a Singaporean book store owner, and more.

Entry is free.
