The mobile app of Thailand’s No. 1 bank remained inaccessible late Thursday morning to many customers due to a “high volume of access.”
Many Bangkok Bank customers looking to check their pay day deposits, reported being unable to check their balances or make transactions since around 3am.
“Due to current high volume of access, some customers may have difficulty making transactions or logging in,” read a message greeting users as of late Thursday morning. “Normal service will resume shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
The message is accompanied by a very helpful looping animation of a woman bowing apologetically.
Despite complaints that the app routinely crashes around the end of every month, today’s inconvenience was so great that #BangkokCrashes trended to the top of Thai Twitter, with many people lamenting that they just want to cash out their payments.
“#BangkokBank, you know that your weakness is technology?” Littlehogweed tweeted. “You’re very low-tech. Your app crashes every month. You don’t hire anybody to make any improvements. Some people really need the money urgently. It shouldn’t crash this often! Can’t take it!”
“It’s the worst bank ever since I started using it,” ChanyaPhonboon wrote in a tweet. “Not impressed since using it the first time until now.”
