Bangkok has had 60 new Zika cases reported this year

Today, health department officials said that they have reports of 60 new cases of Zika virus in Bangkok between Jan. 1 and Sept. 25. They plan to set up screening for high-risk populations such as pregnant women.

The victims were spread throughout 27 districts in Bangkok, with most cases being reported in Bang Na, Bang Khen, Bang Plad, Chatuchak, Sathorn, Phasi Charoen, Ratchathevi, Dusit, Bangkokyai, Prawet and Suan Luang districts, reported Thai PBS.

Four pregnant women were among those affected and they continue to receive monitoring and health care.

In addition to screening, the government plans to set up campaigns that teach people how to keep mosquitoes from breeding near their homes.
