Bad check leads to man being nabbed for TBH2.5m gold scam

On Monday, authorities captured a gang member responsible for using bad checks to buy gold bars from a Bang Phli dealer in Samut Prakan province. The total cost of the gold bars amounted to TBH2.59 million. Somchai Naboon, 50, was caught by police on Monday night at his apartment in the Muang district of Samut Prakan province.

According to the Bangkok Post, a woman known as “Aum” got in touch with the gold shop and paid for the purchase through a bank transfer. However, the bank later notified the owner that the transfer could not be completed due to insufficient funds in the account. The account was owned by Mr. Somchai and this association eventually led to his arrest.
