Starting this morning 3,000 police officers have been deployed to manage the traffic in Bangkok for an entire month as schools reopen today.

Royal Thai Police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said traffic this morning was better than expected, and the main routes were generally flowing. He credited the officers who coordinated with schools to inform guardians about the best way to drop off their children.

Police will work the streets for a whole month in the morning and after-school hours to deal with traffic, making sure the mess ends by 4pm so congestion doesn’t affect people driving home from work, Sanook reported.
