Authorities teach 2,000 illegal parkers a lesson

August is upon us, so it must be time for seasonal parking enforcement efforts.

More than 2,000 cars parked in prohibited areas throughout the kingdom were wheel-clamped yesterday by traffic police.

The highest number of cars were booted along Sukhumvit Road in Samut Prakan province, Chaeng Wattana Road in Nonthaburi and in Pathum Thani, according to the Royal Thai Police.

The renewed effort comes as part of a police effort to curb road accidents and improve the congestion caused by illegal parking. The campaign was preceded by a season-opener crackdown on oeprating mobile phones while driving.
