Immigration police have arrested 59 Cambodians who were working illegally in Thailand. The illegal workers were apprehended at the Bang Lamung district last Wednesday afternoon.
Following intensifying immigration enforcement efforts in the province, the immigration police searched a construction area in Tambon Nong Prua. They requested the migrant workers to show either their passports or any substitute travel paper. Authorities detained 59 Cambodian men and women who were unable to present the documents.
They were later charged with illegal entry and will be deported back to their country, the Bangkok Post reported.
