Update: Hallermann was found dead at around 3:30pm Sept. 15.

A search continued Wednesday for the general manager of a Phi Phi island resort who was reported missing two days ago.

Lt. Col. Sakanan Kamsai of Krabi Tourism Police said they continue to search for Florian Hallermann, a 56-year-old Austrian man who vanished Saturday after walking out of the Zeavola Resort and Spa, where he works.

A police search team reportedly found a body at around noon on Tuesday – but it belonged to a Thai man and not Hallermann, Sakanan said.

The police remain hopeful about finding him, Sakanan added.

Hallermann was last seen Saturday afternoon on a CCTV camera heading out of the resort toward Laem Tong Beach. His whereabouts have not been known since. Resort staff filed a missing person report Monday.

Hallermann is said to have lived on the island for decades and is well-known there. He often appears in Zeavola’s social media.

Anyone who has tips on Hallermann’s whereabouts can contact Krabi Tourism Police via 075-637-208, the Zeavola Resort via 075-627-000 or Ban Laem Tong’s Moo 7 chief at 094-919-1993.
