Australian woman dead after colliding with husband’s jet ski in Phuket

An Australian woman, Emily Jayne Collie, 20, died yesterday afternoon after her jet ski collided with her husband’s near Phuket’s Kata Beach.

The married couple hired two jet skis earlier that day from a vendor at Karon Beach and reportedly rode them very fast to Kata Beach.

The couple collided in the water at high speed and Collie suffered severe injuries to her neck and shoulders.

Her husband, identified by the Guardian as Tommy Keating, suffered only minor injuries.

The couple were rescued from the water by local lifeguards. They performed CPR on Collie for 15 minutes before she was transported by ambulance to Chalong Hospital at 5pm.

Collie was pronounced dead on arrival at Chalong Hospital. Her body has been sent to Vachira Hospital for further investigation into the cause of death.

Her family in Australia have been informed of her death.
