Warner Bros. turning Bangkok cyborg short “True Skin” into full-length movie

Huzzah! Warner Bros. has picked up the Bangkok-set short film “True Skin” and will turn it into a full-length feature film produced by David Heyman of “Harry Potter” fame.

We asked for this to happen last week, and it looks like the movie gods have answered our prayers.

“Skin” envisions Bangkok as a cyborg dystopia where totally “organic” humans are looked down upon.

Zlotescu, a special effects whiz who has previously directed music videos for Kanye West and Lady Gaga, will direct the full-length film.

Here’s what the Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news of the Warner Bros. Signing, had to say about the film:

The short is set in the not-too-distant future where everyone is augmenting their bodies. The story’s hero can’t afford to augment in the U.S., so he heads to the black market of Bangkok, where he gets hold of a mysterious chip that he discovers is slowly turning him robotic — and is a hot commodity wanted by shadowy forces.

The feature will incorporate that aspect as it thrusts the hero in a race against time to elude his pursuers and save what’s left of his humanity.
