The first photo (below) and more plot details from the Ryan Gosling movie “Only God Forgives” have been released.
“Forgives” is said to be more violent then the last film “Drive” that Gosling and director Nicolas Winding Refn worked together on… which should be quite a feat because “Drive” is no slouch when it comes to brutal violence.
In a plot that’s rumored to feature lots of swordplay slicing and dicing, Gosling plays an American expat who runs a muay thai gym in Bangkok that serves as a front for a family drug smuggling operation run by his mom (Kristen Scott Thomas) back in Florida. Gosling is in exile from the States because he killed a cop there ten years ago.
Gosling’s drug addicted brother murders a prostitute thus getting himself killed by her father, in a judgment decided upon by the baddie of the film, a retired Thai cop named Chang, aka The Angel of Vengeance. Gosling’s mom then comes to Bangkok and orders Gosling to seek revenge on her son’s killers. Mayhem ensues.
