Alexander Lamont exhibiting ‘ikebana’ Japanese floral arrangements at Gaysorn

Luxury furniture maker Alexander Lamont is hosting an exhibition of ikebana flower arrangements by Bangkok-based artist Naomi Daimaru until July 15 at their two stores on the third floor of Gaysorn Plaza.

Guests can get involved too – an ikebana workshop with Daimaru last weekend was so popular that they are holding one again this Saturday June 30.

Ikebana means “living flowers” or “giving life to flowers” and was developed as a Buddhist art form in 7th Century Japan. Practitioners aim to arrange flowers with such elegance and form that it becomes a higher art and a communication with nature. Daimaru – who is trained in the Ohara school of Ikebana which emphasizes an adherence to nature and human expression – is using pieces from Alexander Lamont in her arrangements and changing them every few days.
