Artists imprint an urban mark on Japanese paper tradition

A three-centuries old Japanese papercraft will get a 21st Century makeover next month at Salt Aree.

For the first time, artists Pariwat “Big” A-nantachina, Christian Hogue, Taechit “Aop” Jiro, and Chatchanok “Pink” Wongvachara will display their urbancentric designs on oversized, 1.1 meter by 2.8 meter digital washi paper made in Japan.

“Washi” is the fancy name for a style of traditional, handmade Japanese paper.

Enjoy the exhibition along with Salt restaurant’s Japanese-inspired cuisine and DJ Logan Bay’s music mashup starting at 7pm on Sept. 6. The exhibition runs through Sept. 27.
